Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Class Act FCU has been serving the financial needs of teachers and other educational professionals since 1954.
What is your primary product or service?
Our primary products include savings, checking, and loans of all types. Honors Checking pays a high-yield monthly dividend and has no minimum balance requirement or monthly service fee. Nationwide ATM refunds too!
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I first discovered the credit union difference when I needed a small emergency loan ($100) to meet an urgent need. I went to Butchertown FCU and got the loan without hassle or delay. It was refreshingly unlike prior dealings with banks.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Being a credit union, Class Act FCU is different from traditional banks in that we offer better value - higher yields on deposits, lower rates on loans, as well as fewer and smaller fees. We differ from other credit unions in that we serve only the educational community and not the public at large. We've had over 50 years experience in working with the special needs of students, teachers, and others who work in the educational system.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We manage three local branches, plus a dozen other local 'shared branches' for the convenience of our members. There are over 4,000 shared branches nationwide. Plus, we offer a full-featured online branch where new members can join and fund their accounts, and existing members can open additional services 24/7.

Class Act FCU is cooperatively owned by all the members who bank here. The Credit Union is run by a volunteer Board of Directors, who are nominated and elected by our members from the membership. Daily operations are handled by a paid group of managers and staff led by President/CEO Lynn Huether.
